The CEMEX company received the LEED Gold Certification granted by the U.S. Green Building Council for the “CEMEX HQ Houston” project, a recently constructed building that will serve as the company’s headquarters in the United States.
The international company brought together various architecture and engineering strategies in its building that allowed for the reduction of resources, water and energy consumption, while promoting a better indoor environment.
In addition to this environmental recognition, CEMEX is a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and works together with other companies for a future in which buildings use zero net energy. Furthermore, this company demonstrates its commitment to sustainability by creating environmentally friendly concrete and construction materials that meet the requirements of existing certifications, including LEED.
With 62 points, CEMEX HQ Houston is the first project of the company globally to obtain this distinction worldwide.
